What Is Aspadol 100 Mg?

Aspadol 100mg tablet is a Tapentadol brand drug that is prescribed for treating both acute and chronic pain. Tapentadol is an opioid pain medication prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe body pain.

With a dual mechanism of action, its use was approved by the FDA in 2008.

Aspadol is available in two formulations- Immediate-Release tablets and Extended-release tablets.

• An immediate-release tablet dissolves and releases its active ingredient quickly after you take it. Thus, they start working right away.

• On the other hand, an extended-release tablet is designed to dissolve slowly over time, gradually releasing its active ingredient. The extended-release tablet of Aspadol is also available in higher dosage strength, which is Aspadol ER 200 mg.

In addition to Tapentadol, the active compound, Aspadol 100 mg also contains a few inactive compounds, including microcrystalline cellulose, povidone K 30 USP, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, and croscarmellose sodium.

Aspadol 100Mg Uses

Aspadol is prescribed to relieve acute pain resulting from surgery, back pain, or injury. It is also used for chronic pain conditions when other pain relievers are ineffective, such as diabetic neuropathy, post-operative pain, and fibromyalgia.

Dosage Information

The Aspadol 100 mg tablets can be taken two to three times daily. The maximum daily dosage of Aspadol is 600 mg.

No change in the dosage should be done without consulting a doctor.

How To Take Aspadol 100 Mg?

• Swallow Aspasol 100 mg with water without breaking or crushing it.

• It can be taken with or without a meal.

• Take the medicine at a fixed time for better results.

• Do not abruptly discontinue the intake of Aspadol, as it can result in withdrawal symptoms. Consult a doctor before discontinuing Aspadol 100 tablets.

Alternative Dose

Aspadol 100Mg Side Effects

The common side effects of Tapentadol include dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth, and vomiting.

Serious side effects may include respiratory depression, severe hypotension, and addiction or dependence with long-term use. The other side effects that must be reported to a doctor immediately include itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, feeling overheated, hives, feeling lightheaded, and agitation.

Precautions And Warnings

• Avoid taking Aspadol with alcohol to prevent dizziness and drowsiness.

• Aspadol 100 tablets is a category C medication and are not advisable during pregnancy as it can affect the developing baby.

• It is unsafe to breastfeed while taking Aspadol as it can pass into the mother’s milk to affect the growth and development of the baby. Do not feed the baby for 3 to 4 hours of taking Aspadol 100 mg.

• People with kidney disorders are advised to take Aspadol after consulting a doctor. Such patients may also require dosage adjustment.
